Job Posting:
This position is responsible for ensuring weekly raw material availability. Provides purchase orders, assortments, and or forecasts to suppliers at the appropriate lead-time to ensure at once raw material availability. Responsible for creating and maintaining contracts and ensures pricing in the procurement systems are up to date. Ensures procurement execution on special projects and new product introductions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Communicates raw materials forecast to suppliers (to achieve goals of shortened lead times and appropriate inventory to support Production Planning and Manufacturing) and schedules raw material deliveries (assortments) to cover the production plan and forecast; works to continually strengthen supplier relationships.
  • Develops and monitors time tables to ensure the availability of material to support new product and/or sourcing launches.
  • Insures the timely purchase of piece goods to meet sample requirements, shipping plans, lot plans and production schedules.
  • Monitors quality and delivery problems with Purchasing Management and Planning. Issues debits or adjustments as necessary.
  • Raises and reacts to issues relating to raw material inventory levels, impending surplus and aged fabric. Identifies and declares surplus and obsolete inventory.
  • Maintains a yearly up-to-date file on affidavits, RSL’s, and flammability certificates on all current raw materials and requests vendor MSDS sheets as necessary.
  • Creates and updates contracts and availability by determining requirements by total material. Creates PO's with method of shipment to determine requirements by material/plants. Reviews detail level purchasing reports in SAP and validates needs with locations. Creates and communicates contracts and purchase orders to the vendors and plants.
  • Validates pricing, quantities, and processes blocked invoices and resolves open orders. Receives pricing information from vendor, reviews blocked invoice report, answers inquires, and reviews open order report. Validates pricing and establishes in system, invoicing reviewed, processed, and orders cleared. Validates and updates the Weekly Pricing Report.
  • Manages vendor relations, reconciles vendor issues, and provides vendor with projections. Communicates on a frequent basis with vendor and meets with vendor representatives. Addresses issues and elevates as needed and provides needs analysis. Communicates with vendors in a timely and accurate fashion, resolving issues and providing guidance.
  • Serves as the project lead on key procurement projects. Supports the supervisor as necessary and serves as the supervisor’s backup as required.
Qualifications:
  • Years of Related Professional Experience: 4 years purchasing, or general business.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) in both written and oral communications
Skills:
  • Strong communications skills, necessary in dealing with Merchandising, Plants, Vendors, Purchasing, customers, and brokers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Works well under minimal supervision.
