Primary Function As part of Grainger's vision to become a global leader in product information and the most trusted site in B2B distribution, robust product master data governance is critical to ensuring consistently high data quality which creates strong customer and supplier confidence.
As stewards of product information quality, Grainger's governance team will protect Grainger's product information asset and ensure it generates positive enterprise outcomes.
In this role, the Sr. Master Data Management Analyst will support strategic governance initiatives to improve product information by using master data management best practices –including but not limited to large scale data clean-ups, global normalization efforts, product reclassification efforts, and data transformation to enable the functionality of new technology.
This role will serve as part of Product Information's proactive maintenance process, most often partnering with Sr. Data Stewards, while also supporting work from Product Information's reactive maintenance workflow, Gathering and Production functions.
Main duties and Responsibilities Performs strategic product information project work across large data sets.
Follows data standards and guidance from overall PI goals to assess scope, determine approach, and execute against activities that may have multiple paths to a solution.
Follows complex processes with defined goals but limited day-to-day oversight while achieving world class Product Information outcomes.
Partners with PI Governance team and Master Data Management Supervisor to achieve shared, cross-functional goals around data quality.
Supports synthesis of incoming customer feedback in order to feed recurring themes as inputs into Grainger's Category Review process.
Analyzes product information errors to identify potential issues with broad scope of occurrence.
Partners with Sr. Operations Analysts and governance to support product information error root cause analysis, containment, remediation, and prevention measures Education and Experience.
BA/BS or equivalent preferred.
3-5 years of experience in related field preferred.
Demonstrated strength in analytics and problem solving, with proven experience managing large volumes of data.
Mastery of Product Information best practices across data quality.
Proven ability to work independently to structure and solve potentially ambiguous problems.
Resourcefulness, with the ability find creative solutions to challenging problems.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to partner cross-functionally, working with all levels of management.
Proven written and verbal communication skills, working to clarify complex situations into simpler terms.
Results and solutions oriented – focused on driving the best commercial outcomes for Grainger and its suppliers.
Familiarity with category review, new product introduction, and other merchandising processes preferred.
Working knowledge of business objectives including merchandising strategy, product information, and supplier management.
Advanced Excel skills required.
Proficiency with PowerPoint & Word.
Bilingual (English/Spanish- read, write, speak).
